Frequently Asked Questions?

Q. What is a concierge fitness service?

A. SBGAL takes care of all the planning, arrangements, logistics, and details for our Training, Treks, & Travel. All you need to do is read and follow directions and then enjoy a stress-free, worry-free, fitness experience.

Q. What fitness level does SBGAL require?

A. The training programs are designed for apparently healthy women ages 18-80. Most members begin with the ability to comfortably hike or walk four miles at a moderate pace (RPE 5-7 ). The training session is designed to progress so that each member can participate in the travel adventure.

Q. Can I bring my family or friends on the travel adventure?

A. With very few exceptions, only members of a current session can participate in the travel adventure’s trek. However, while we don’t recommend it, family and friends have accompanied members to the travel adventure destination and pursued their own activities while the member participated with the group.

Q. What do I need to bring to each training?

A. As a member, you’ll be provided with specific lists of items that you need to outfit yourself with and items that you need to bring for each training. As long as you can read and follow directions, you’ll be properly prepared for each training.

Q. Can I be a guest at one of the trainings?

A. Guests are welcome to participate in a maximum of two trainings per session. All guests must complete a Registration Form, Participant Agreement, Release, and Assumption of Risk, and pay the guest fee prior to participation.

Q. What if I get injured during a training of travel adventure?

A. SBGAL Guides have basic first aid and CPR training. The Guide also carries a basic first aid kit, and cell phone. While medical care necessary beyond basic first aid is readily available in most walking locations, on hikes the probability of having readily available medical care facilities nearby is reduced in relation to the remoteness of the location. In the event that you are injured and require medical care, SBGAL will assist in making the necessary arrangements to secure such care in the most expeditious manner available depending on the situation. All third party rescue fees are the responsibility of the member. For that reason, it is imperative that members disclose medical conditions (which are kept strictly confidential) to SBGAL as a part of completing the registration form.

Q. What if I get injured and can’t complete the session?

A. You will receive a pro-rated refund for trainings remaining minus a $35 administrative fee.

Q. What if I register and can't participate in the session for non-medical reasons?

A.
A refund of the registration fee is available by written notice per the refund schedule as follows:

  • More than 60-days notice provided prior to session start:  Full refund of registration fee minus a $35 administrative fee.
  • Between 30 and 60-days notice provided prior to session start:  75% refund of registration fee minus a $35 administrative fee.
